We left Leamington and I’m still coughing and feeling sick. I already had a round of steroids from Wisconsin, Antibiotics from my doctor back home and I’m not better yet. After a few stops to research hospitals and urgent cares, We came to a pharmacy along the way as we try to figure out how the Canadian healthcare system will work for me. Got some more meds and headed to our next stop in Sauble Beach. We pulled into the house and immediately realized that this was not the place for us. The house needed a lot of maintenance. It had an odor of heavy cleaning products and was not well maintained. With the way I was feeling and wheezing, I called the owner and told her that I just couldn’t stay here. We repacked and went to dinner looking for a place to stay for the week.
We went to dinner and found several instant bookings that weren’t quite ready in an instant. Had to pivot and find a place just for the night. Fortunately there was fantastic RV park right in town that had space . Woodland Park RV Resort was a great place to stay. Granted, it was in a pinch and it saved us, but it was a place we‘d definitely return to stay. More relaxed, we were able to find our place to work for the upcoming week on the other side of the peninsula, so we settled in, Starlink worked for the kids streaming shows and we had a great night of sleep. By morning, we were all set with our new itinerary and ready to go. The drive across the peninsula wasn’t that long, so we needed time to kill before our new home was ready for us.
When driving in Canada, TIm Hortons becomes your go to spot. We left Sauble Beach and stopped at the first Tim Hortons we found. Got our food and coffee and headed across Bruce Peninsula towards the Georgian Bay. We found a great place for lunch in the area that has a golf course and hotel called the Cobble Beach Resort.

Our new home had a great elevated view of the Georgian Bay. It was owned by a fellow Uruguayan. The town of Owen Sound was very charming. Nice restaurants and great activities (below). We had a good week of work. I had to finally give in and go to the local hospital, which is another reason why I was grateful to be in Owen Sound. The hospital here was great. I got in, got seen right away. They Xray’ed my chest, prescribed me antibiotics and steroids. Everyone there was super nice and friendly. Each afternoon after work we‘d go on an adventure around Bruce Peninsula. The countyside out here is gorgeous. We at at the grand opening of a Vietnamese restaurant in town. The Pho was delcious. Owen Sound is a really neat town to visit.
So much nature around Bruce Peninsula. We made the trek up to Bruce Peninsula National Park
Closer to Owen Sound are a couple of waterfalls. We visited Ingliss Falls and attempted to see Indian Trail Falls, but it was washed out.
At the end of the week, we were continuing our travels north to Manitoulin Island, which meant taking the ChiCheeman Ferry.
